DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, May 22\, 2026\, the Mellon Heritage Veterans Outreach and Wellness Campus “Lunch & Learn” presentation will be presented by Dr. James (Jim) Breckenridge focusing on “A Family’s Memory of War and Service” about his family’s service from the 1930s to the present. \nThe presentation will be held at the Ridge Building\, 2142 Freeport Road\, North East\, PA 16428 aboard the Mellon Heritage Veterans Outreach and Wellness Campus. All Active Military\, Veterans\, First Responders and their guests are invited to a light lunch at 12:00 PM. The presentation will begin approx. 12:30 PM. \nFollowing twenty-two years of service as a commissioned officer in the United States Army\, Jim Breckenridge spent fifteen years developing innovative methods of teaching the next generation of intelligence analysts and was appointed the first chair of Department of Intelligence Studies at Mercyhurst University. During his military career\, his leadership responsibilities ranged from commanding the U.S. Army’s first unit to engage in combat since the Vietnam War (in Beirut\, Lebanon 1983) and serving as a Professor of Military Science at West Point. From 2017 until 2023 he served as the Provost at the Army War College in Carlisle\, Pennsylvania. He is the recipient of the highest medal awarded to a civilian by the Department of Defense. DESCRIPTION:The April monthly Mellon Veteran’s Lunch and Learn on  Friday the 24th will publicly update efforts of the Mellon Heritage Foundation and 4 N.I.N.E.’ s 2024 partnership to develop a public park and trail system on the former Mercyhurst North East campus which straddles North East township and borough. 4 N.I.N.E. commissioned a study to provide strategic guidance for development of the park\, with the goal of establishing an accessible trail system that integrates environmental\, cultural and inclusive elements. This has been a truly remarkable effort. \nOn Friday\, 24 April\, lunch begins at 11:30 AM and the presentation at noon. It will be open to the public and located in the Ridge Complex\, 2142 Freeport Road\, North East\, PA 16428\, at the entrance to the campus.
