Our Mission

The MVOC mission is to empower each veteran and first responder on their unique journey, providing essential resources and a supportive network for a smooth transition to civilian life.

Our History

M. Richard Mellon, Founder & CEO, purchased the former Mercyhurst College Campus in North East, Pennsylvania, consisting of 215,000 square feet of buildings and 66 acres of athletic and recreational fields. Our campus dates back to 1868, originally built for the Redemptorist Fathers, Lake Shore Seminary.

Mellon Heritage Foundation, Inc. is an IRS 501 c 3 charity and operates under the authority of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All of your support will be used exclusively for capital improvement projects. There are no better groups deserving help and gratitude than our Veterans and First Responders.

Our Goals

  • Provide Office and Event Space Rentals
  • Prepare the baseball, softball, and soccer fields as community rentals
  • Introduce Group Therapy Sessions
  • Open the Gym and Auditorium for community events

Testimonials

"MVOC has opened up a wonderful new community to me. We connect with stories from service time, memories that only military families can truly understand. MVOC also provides a variety of activities, training, and spaces for me to bond with my diversely abled son. We love coming here and recommend it to all veterans and their families."
"The Mellon Veterans Outreach Center renews [my] faith that people really do like veterans."
"Thank you to the Mellon Veterans Outreach Center for your unwavering support and dedication to those who have served. Your compassion and commitment make a lasting impact on the lives of veterans and their families. We are deeply grateful for all that you do."
"The Mellon Veterans Outreach Center provides first responders and their families a place to relax, learn, and enrich their lives. The Center also provides a location to coordinate Emergency Management responses and offers classrooms for training purposes."
"Army Retired First Sergeant, Purple Heart recipient, and Commander of the Commodore Perry Chapter 197 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), thanks the MVOC for its continued support of the Chapter.  Before the MVOC was founded, the Chapter did not have a home for hosting its meetings and key events, such as its annual Washington Dinner.  Thanks to the MVOC and its Board of Directors, Chapter 197 has a home base at the MVOC that includes an official office, a conference room for holding monthly meetings, and facilities for hosting key events tied to the storied heritage of the MOPH.  The Veterans and members of Chapter 197 thank you!"
